Venice’s newest nightclub is a low-light natural wine bar with style

The rich are getting richer, it seems, as Venice wins another chic natural wine bar along Abbot Kinney Boulevard, this one named Only the Wild Ones. Newcomer to 1201 Abbot Kinney (formerly the Otheroom) is right next to Butcher’s Daughter and a few blocks from hot spots like Gjelina and Felix Trattoria.

The Venice area is already full of great party spaces where drinks flow easily, from the recently moved Zinqué (now to Lincoln) to the South End, Great White, Dudley Market, Barrique and beyond. However, only the Wild Ones already have a lot of local credibility, as they are owned by Heather Tierney of Butcher’s Daughter and design firm Wanderlust Design. Tierney is a staple of the Westside food scene and takes his talent to build beautiful spaces in this new project.

Inside is the usual (and still effective Westside) wash of bronzes, blond woods, and exposed brick. This iteration gets delicious woven fabrics spread across low lounge seating, wicker detailing throughout the room, a pop of neon, and tall windows that look out to the action beyond. An overhead disco ball and a floral landscape surrounding a skylight provide the brightest sparkles in the room.

On the menu side, expect a full range of natural wines, with most glasses ranging between $ 13 and $ 17 a drink. A compact snack menu mostly leans into bites like cheese boards, meatballs and burrata, and a few salads, though there are other shareable pizzettes as well – all offered by Butcher’s executive chef. Daughter, Richard Rea, who also operates the company’s outdoor vegan restaurant. By Buena Planta. Beyond wine, cocktails are available (including several low alcohol options), as well as beer, mocktails, and homemade sodas. Grace Gaboury (the tasting kitchen, Chi Spacca) is the Beverage Manager, and the opening menu for food and beverages is below.

The new Only the Wild Ones opens tonight, Friday, November 19, from 4 p.m. to midnight daily.
