Khai Vu will replace Mordeo with a ‘luxurious’ Japanese fusion tapas wine bar in Chinatown

Mordeo Boutique Wine Bar closed at the start of the pandemic, and now chef Khai Vu’s former member of Eater 38 is being replaced by a new fusion restaurant, self-proclaimed as ‘luxurious’, ‘premium’, ‘sumptuous’ and unique in its kind.

Long rumored to be heading to the 2,034 square foot corner space, Osaka Sunset has slowly hinted that the Japanese tapas and wine bar menu will include sushi, sake, sashimi, ramen, tempura dishes and bento creations, plus the option of an omakase menu for adventurous diners.

The chef behind Chinatown’s District One Kitchen & Bar and old-fashioned Vietnamese cuisine Le Pho in downtown Las Vegas launched Mordeo in August 2018, near the intersection of Spring Mountain and Lindell Roads, serving his own version of Japanese-influenced Spanish and Latin dishes before closing in March 2020.

Future opening hours for Osaka Sunset have yet to be announced, but Mordeo has finally expanded its dinner reservations to offer a mighty lunch Monday through Friday.
